David Bulkin is Managing Director at Grow-Lean LLC, where he delivers agile/lean training and coaching to teams in the United States and globally, from Australia to South Africa. David is well known for his practical approach and helping teams achieve real results. David has over 30 years experience delivering software and systems and has been applying agile methods for 14 years across the entire value stream from strategy and product ideation to development, support and operations.
David has helped hundreds journey from plan driven to adaptive methods, resulting in increased ROI and satisfaction. At a trainer, David delivers certified and non-certified courses to positively impact individuals and teams. As a coach and consultant David helps organizations adopt and expand their use of agile by working with teams, PMOs and executives.
David is active in the Scrum, agile, lean and kanban communities, presenting at major conferences and at regional events. David is one of the founders of the Agile Leadership Network of NJ. David was an independent reviewer of the PMI-ACP body of knowledge which fed the creation of the PMI-ACP Exam.
David started his agile journey in late 2001 when his eBanking team transitioned to Extreme Programming (XP) under the tutelage of Kent Beck (agile manifesto author and creator of XP). The application of agile methods turned around eBanking from a slow, difficult to work with group, into a high performing team that consistently hit delivery dates by collaborating with the business. David has been applying agile methods ever since.
Prior to that David spent many years as a hands on practioner, developering software systems and business processes as a manager, project manager and developer including creating a successful Internet statup in the early 1990’s.
David has a long history of improving development effectiveness that predates agile, including being an initial member of the Airlie Council and of the Center for Program Transformation, to progress acquisitions management in the US Federal Government and DoD.
